Wow--I got a Blog award from Diane-aka djuseless

These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind of bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly written text into the body of their award."These blogs are exceedingly charming. Post-it Note Holders

Here are 3 post-it note holders that I made over the weekend. I am going to put one in the gift bag for my MIL. These are so quick, easy & fund to make! I think I may make more of them.
Supplies:
Paper: Tea Party DSP, Lovely Lilac, Brocade Blue, Pretty in Pink
Misc: MS Butterfly punch, paper crimper & ribbon
Here's a quick tutorial: (supplies listed are for the holder on the far left)
Base is lovely lilac cut at 3 1/2 x 8 1/3, then folded in half. Run the folded end through the paper crimper 4-5 turns. On the inside, adhere the crimped area together using red line tape. Cut DSP ~3x3, adhere to front. Punch butterfly & attach w/SNAIL adhesive. (Alternately, you can stamp a design for the front--use your imagination). The ribbon is cut ~9" and tied in a knot around the crimped end. Adhere ~ 1/3 of a pad of 3x3 post it notes to the inside. I used red line tape to adhere the post it notes to endure they stayed put.
Tomorrow is Friday--YEAH. Winnie goes to the groomer, so she will be cute for the weekend. I hope all you have been having a wonderful week.
Thanks for stopping by!

Bath Salts for my Mother in Law

I found this jar at Michaels, and knew it would be perfect to hold some bath salts that I made for my Mother-in-Law. I scented them in lavendar. This will be another part of her Mother's Day gift. I hope she likes it.
I am feeling much better today. My ring worm seems to have stopped spreading! YEAH! I haven't been nearly as itchy today either.
It's raining here today. It's suppose to rain tomorrow also. I am getting tired of all the rain, but my hostas are loving it. All 14 have come back up. And it looks like one of my Gerber daisies is coming back too. I hope I'll get around to planting some annuals this weekend. I didn't do it last weekend like I had planned on.
Winnie & I hope that you have a wonderful evening.

Stamped Candles

Good evening everyone. Sorry I didn't post yesterday, but I ended up going to the doctor because of my ring worm. It's driving my nutty! It covers approximately 40% of my body. It is worse than poison ivy. The doctor prescribed oral lamisil, plus benadryl. However, the benadryl makes me soooooo sleepy I can only take it at night. I'm still pretty miserable. However, I don't think it spread today, which is a very good thing! So, keep your fingers crossed for me.

My project today is part of my MILs mothers day gift. I'll be posting all the things for her gift over the week. I really had a lot of fun coming up with the ideas. Since we're taking her on an Alaska cruise this summer, we're not doing a big gift for Mother's Day. I think she'll like what I have come up with. She really appreciates hand made gift items. Let me know what you think at the end of the week.

This was my first attemp at stamping on candles. They're OK, but I think I could improve my technique. I need to figure out just the right amount of time to heat the candle/wax paper.

Stamps: Echoes of Kindness, Flight of the Butterfly
Ink: Lovely Lilac
Misc: Candle, tissue paper

I'll post another item tomorrow, so check back soon!

Lenny's Love Me Not

Happy Sunday everyone! It's beautiful again today. I think after I finish this blog, I'm going to the nursery to get some plants. I still haven't decided what I'm going to put in the flower boxes yet, so maybe I'll just get a few things to put in the front bed and wait til next weekend to do the flower boxes on the deck. However, all I really want to do is go to my stamping room and stamp.

Today's card is one that I think is really cute. Here's the details:

Stamps: High Hopes "Lenny's Love Me Nots", sentiment SU Dreams du Jour

Ink: Staz-On black, Riding Hood Red

Paper: Pink Pirouette, Kiwi Kiss, Whisper White, Bella Rose DSP

Misc: Paper Flowers, fern punch, brad, prisma pencils, blending stumps, baby oil

This was a fun card to make. Hope you enjoy your Sunday.

Happy Stamping!

Any Occasion Card

Happy Saturday everyone! It was the most beautiful day here! It must have been close to 80 and sunny, sunny, sunny! I didn't get to the garden center like I had planned, but maybe tomorrow. It's suppose to be just as nice tomorrow as it was today.

Have some bad news also. My upper legs are covered in ring worm AGAIN! I think I originally got it when we were in Costa Rica in Dec. I held a wild sloth on the side of the road, and a few weeks later I got ring worm all over my arms and torso, then it spread to my upper legs. Now is tack on my left upper arm and both legs. And it's worse than ever. I am so itchy. I have used amost 1/2 a tube of lotrimin in the past 2 days. Will have to go get more tomorrow. And last night I took 2 benadryl tables. Sure slept well.

Today's card was fund. And, as usual, very easy. Here's the details:

Stamps: So Many Scallops
Inck: Riding Hood Red
Paper: Very Vanilla, Pink Pirouette, Candy Lane DSP
Misc: Fiskars punch, SU scallop punch, SU, Fiskars embossing plate

Today I made some acrylic post it note holders. I'll take some pictures tomorrow and post them. I also made another flower pot card to use for my dear MIL's mother's day card. Oh, and I made some cute birthday cards in green that I'll take pics of & post later in the week.

Hope everyone has a wonderul evening!

Bright Birthday

Arent' these bright summer looking birthday cards? I think it's the yellow! These cards are almost identical except for a few details. I think I like the one on the left better: mostly due to the horizontal turquoise piece behind the flower that is trimmed with a Fiskars border punch which is one of my favorite border punches.

I hope everyone made it through the week with minimal stress. I'm so glad it's Friday! Hurray.

Here's the card details:

Stamps: Dream a Little (birthday sentiment unknown clear stamp)
Paper: Flock together DSP, So Saffron, Tempting Turquoise
Markers: Summer Sun, Yo Yo Yellow, So Saffron & Garden Green
Ink: Garden Green & Pumpkin Pie
Misc: SU scallop punch, Fiskars border punch, ribbon

Got some good news from the podiatrist yesterday. My foot is not hurting nearly as much as it was, so he elected to give me another shot to see if we could get rid of the rest of the soreness rather than have to remove the nerve. YEAH!!!! So keep your fingers crossed for me for the next 2 weeks to see if it continues to improve.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. I hope to go get some flowers to plant this weekend. It's suppose to be gorgeous here in Northern Virginia, and I want to take advantage. We live in a townhome, so I have a very small flower garden, but actually, it's just the right size for me. I do not have a green thumb, and get bored after a while, so it's just right.

Have a wonderful evening and weekend. Thanks for stopping by.

I got the inspiration for these cards over at SCS here: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1240759?cat=fav
Here's what I used for the card:
Stamps: Echoes of Kindness
Ink: Pink Pirouette & basic Grey
Paper: Basic Grey, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White Bella Rose DSP

Sorry it's not the best pics, but it was storming outside, and the light wasn't the best.

Guess that's it for today. More tomorrow.

Today is Administrative Assistants Day, and my assistant is male, so I had to come up with a creative card for him. And since Father's Day is coming up I went ahead & made a card for Winnie & Geordi to give to their daddy. These were a lot of fun to make too.

Stamps: Totally Tool
Ink: Kiwi Kiss
Paper: Kiwi Kiss, Whisper White & Ski Slope DSP
Misc: Brad Buddies from Paper Wishes

Hope everyone had a great day.

Another All Occasion Card

Good afternoon everyone. I'm posting early today because I had to walk "the girls" at lunch. And of course it's pouring down rain here today, so I have to take each of them separately, so it takes twice as long, and both of them hate the rain! Ugh, and it's suppose to keep raining heavily throught tomorrow! Oh well, April showers bring May flowers right?

This card is the first one I designed for the Corrosive Challenge, but decided to post the card from yesteday instead. I really think this one is more to this weeks topic. Oh well, I like the other card better.

But this card was very easy to put together, I just feel like it needs somehting else. I can't figure out what else it needs. If you have any ideas, let me know.

Here's the details for the card:

Stamps: All that I have seen
Ink: Riding Hood Red
Paper: Pink Pirouette, Close to Cocoa, Candy Lane DSP
Misc: Fiskars tag punch, pink ribbon, Emagination tag punch (out of business now)

I hope everyone has a great week.

Kind Words card

This card is for this weeks Corrosive Challenge (see sidebar for link). Words are suppose to be the focal point, but I think I failed the challenge, as in my opinion, there's no real focal point on the card. But I had lots of fun anyway in my stamp room today!!!!

I'm finally feeling better (first time since Thursday afternoon). I spent the afternoon in my stamp room, and made 5-6 cards to post this week. Winnie, Maisie & Geordi all helped. Of course, Winnie had to sit on my lap for part of the afternnon. In fact, she's laying in my arms right now as I type, so if there are typos, it's mainly her fault.

Anyway, here's the specifics on the card:
Stamps: Echoes of Kindness
Paper: Tea Time DSP, Almost Amethyst, Pretty in Pink, So Saffron
Ink: Pink Passion
Misc: Pretties kit; So Saffron & Almost Amethyst reinkers, Paper Shaper & MS butterfly punches, SU scallop punch, paper shaper fern punch, Fiskars border punch & emboss, a brad
I have decided that I really like using the SU DSP because it really helps in coordinating the colors. It's so quick to pull out a stamp set, pick a DSP and then pull the inks are coordinating papers together!

I have a large storage shelf that DH built me a year or so ago. It's large and very heavy. Well, this afternoon I dropped an entire container of flowers behind the thing. Needless to say, I'm not looking forward to moving all the stuff off the shelves so that I can move it out to get the flowers from behind there. I may just buy more flowers instead, LOL!

Winnie & I hope that you all had a peaceful and restful weekend. Til tomorrow.......

Any Occasion Card

Sorry that I haven't been around for the past few days. I've been a little under the weather. It started Thursday and finally I'm feeling a little better. Just a touch of the flu or something.

Winnie's friend, Maisie is here for the next week. I'll post some cute pics of them throughout the week, so make sure you stop by often.

That's all for now. Maybe more tomorrow.

Quick thank you

YEAH--made it through another tax season. Hope everyone had a wonderful day. It's still cold & rainy here, so Winifred & I didn't walk again tonight. If we're going to make our goal of 4 times this week, we'll have to walk Thurs, Fri & Sat! Ugh.

Tried to get to work early today, got up as soon as the alarm went off, got out the door, got to the metro, and then...................there was a mechanical issue at the station I get off at, and we were delayed about 20 minutes!!!! I could have hit the snooze a couple of times! LOL

Anyway, I made this card a few months back. It is very quick & easy and sometimes I like them quick & easy. Here's the specifics:

Stamps: Touch of Nature & Much Appreciated
Ink: Basic Black & Always Artichoke (the flower is stamped in AA)
Paper: Whisper White, Black, Pretty in Pink, Purely Pomegranite
Misc: black & white gingham ribbon, black brads, water color crayons

The card is a standard A4, cut from black cardstock. I cut whisper white 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" and put it on the inside of the card. The Pretty in Pink is cut at 5 1/4" x 4". The Black is 3 1/4" x 2 3/4". The white piece with the flower is cut 3" x 2 1/2". The Purely Pomegranite is 5 1/4" x 3/4".

Hope everyone has a wonderful evening.

Happy Thank You

I need to make some more of these cards. I love the colors together. And they are so fast to make. Could be thank you, thinking of you, happy birthday, get well soon, congratulations, etc. Whatever you need for a happy little card.

Supplies

Paper: Brilliant Blue, Yo Yo Yellow, Whisper White
Misc: while gel pen

Wow, only one more day til the end of tax season! YEAH!! Although, I can't complain, we had very few issues or cost basis issues this year. That's because my partner & I have worked so hard to make sure we know what the client's gain/loss would be before we made any changes to their portfolio, and boy has it paid off! Much easier than in years past.

Winnie & I didn't walk tonight. I got home a little later than normal, and it's drizzly & cold too boot. So, we're all snuggled up together, and ready to settle in to see who gets booted off "Dancing With the Stars" tonight. We're really hoping that Steve-O will leave!!!! He's really really bad. And we really dislike his pro-partner, Lacy Schwimmer. I don't know where they dug her up, but she needs to go back there. Gilles, man, what can I say but S-E-X-Y!!!! But my favorite is Ty, although I think he's done all he can. He's just so sweet & sincere.

Anyway, enough of that. Haven't finished cathching up on 24 either. Maybe this weekend. We'll see. And "Deadliest Catch" starts again tonight. Nothing on for months, and then BAM, everything DH & I like all at once.

Did I mention that DH & I are going back to Alaska this summer? And, my MIL has agreed to go with us. I'm soooo excited. We're going to have so much fun. We got her an adjacent suite to ours, so we can open the doors and she can come & go into our suite. Both suites come with a butler to help you in any way you need. It will be a lot of fun!!! More on that later.

Thank you card

Sorry for the poor quality of the photo tonight. I hope to do better tomorrow! It was late when I got around to taking the pic and I didn't have any natural light. Oh well. Life goes on.

This is a fun, quick little card to do. Here's the details:

Ink: Pixie Pink, Pretty in Pink, Always Artichoke & Certainly Celery
Paper: Pixie Pink & Whisper White
Stamps: Roses in Winter
Misc: ticket punch & retired SU corner punch

Winnie & I walked 2 miles tonight! Yeah!!!! We didn't get to walk as much last week as we wanted to. So this week we want to walk 4 times. So hope we can do it. I have a very busy week at work, so we'll see. Anything is better than nothing right?

Oh, did I tell you that Winnie stays on heel the entire time we walk. Then, right before we get home I stop her, she sits and looks up at me & when I say "OK", she takes off! She is so smart. I've never had a dog that went to obedienence classes before. It's so much fun.

Guess that's it for tonight. Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!

Flower Pot Card

I found this flower pot card on SCS today. I thought it was adorable. So I rushed upstairs to make one without looking at all of the examples that they had. Now, I don't like this one too much, so I'll probably make a few more & post tomorrow. Tell me what you think, what should be added, deleted etc????

Supplies:

Stamps: Perfect Ending & Warmest Regards

Paper: Dark Brown texture (I have no idea where it came from), So Saffron, Pretty in Pink, Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery & Almost Amethyst. (The 2nd card below also has Bella Rose DSP)

Ink: Certainly Celery & Basic Grey

Misc: Paper Shaper butterfly punch, MS butterfly punch, scallop punch, various fern punches, McGill flower punches, ribbon

I'll try to post tomorrow & give some hints on things that I did a little different. And I have some ideas for how to jazz up the flowers!

Happy Stamping

P S Winnie & I didn't get a lot done today. We got up, ate breakfast, then looked around on the internet most of the morning. We then took a nap, and after we woke up we tried to get caught up on 24. However, we're still 3hours behind!!!! Maybe tomorrow...........

Pretty Little Girl

I had to go to the Podiatrist today. I am convinced they enjoy inflicting as much pain as the dentist does! LOL I had to get another shot. The doctor said that if my foot doesn't improve over the next 2 weeks we're going to have to consider surgery because things should be better by now (this was the 4th shot). So, we'll see. I am hoping this one did the trick.

The image today is one I used in a scrapbook that I made for one of my colleagues at work. She is a grandmother for the first time, and I thought this image just screamed to be put in a little girl scarpbook. And of course I colored it with Prismas & baby oil. And I think it goes so well on the yellow gingham background paper.

The image is from High Hopes stamps called Jolie's Little Friend. I got it from a swap with Diane of My Uselss Crafts. I have a link to her blog on the side of my blog if you want to check out her work.

Winnie & I hope everyone has a wonderful evening.

Bloomin' Beautiful birthday

WOW, tomorrow I only work half a day, then I don't return to work til Monday morning! YEAH! Lots of time to stamp & scarpbook. I can't wait!!!! It will be so much fun. I can't wait to share all the ideas I have to work on with everyone.

I had so much fun doing this card. I really hate that Stampin' Up! retired the Rose Romance color! It was one of my favorites. Of course, any shade of pink is my favorite. And this uses my favorite technique, prisma colored pencils, blending stumps & baby oil!
Supplies:
Stamps: Blooming Beautiful
Paper: Rose Romance, Candy Lane DSPm Whisper White
Ink: Rose Romance & Staz-On black
Misc: Prismas pencils, baby oil, blending stumps, scallop punch, 2 way glue pen, glitter (for the bees wings)
Hope everyone has a wonderful evening. Winnie is excited that she's going to have me home for a few days also.

More Easter cards

I'm posting again tonight because I don't think I'll get anything posted on Tuesday night. I entered this is the Corrosive Challenge Blog #6. You had to make a spring/Easter card using pretty colors. I think these are some of the prettiest colors together.

So make sure you scroll down & see my post from earlier tonight.

If I don't talk to you tomorrow, I hope to be back on Wednesday.

Easter Round Top Boxes

Wow!!! I didn't think I was going to get these pics loaded tonight!!! I took the pictures as soon as I got home from work while the sun was still out. I downloaded them to my computer, cropped, centered, etc etc etc. Deleted them off of the camera memory card & started uploading them to my blog. Well, something happened & I deleted all the pictures!!! All of them! So, I had to retake the pics, but by then the sun had gone down, so the pictures aren't nearly as good! There's shadows, and the color isn't very good. Sorry, but I really had to get the pictures tonight.

These are Easter boxes for the assistants at work. I hope they like them. I got the template from SCS at the following link: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/showpost.php?p=13131214&postcount=1

The supplies are just things I've been collecting over the years. The cardstock is from a pack of pastels I got either at Wal-Mart or Michaels. I can't even remember! Just like all other paper crafters, I collect "things" for embellishments. Some of the embellishments are buttons, probably purchased through http://www.buttonsgaloreandmore.com/ Most of the eyelets and brads were purchased through http://www.eyeletoutlet.com/

As Winnie & I get ready to close for tonight, I want to leave you with a few thoughts:

First--GO TARHEELS!!!!

Secondly, on this day in 1917, the US declared war on Germany. We lost over 50,000 men & women in World War I. Please keep our service men & women in your thoughts and prayers. They need our support.

Hope you all have a great week.

Happy Stamping

P.S. Almost everytime I blog, including tonight, Winnie lays on my lap with her head on the computer while I type, so if you find typos, it's Winnie's fault! LOL

Another purple card!

I hope you had a wonderful Sunday. Our dinner went well last night, well sort of. I didn't cook the chicken long enough, so I had to put it in the microwave for an additional 10 minutes!!!! Kitchens & me just don't get along. However, I was able to make toast for myself this morining without buring down the house, so I guess all is OK.

Winnie's friend Maisie came with her mom & dad for dinner last night. The girls had such a good time! I'll post a couple of pictures of them playing later in the week.

I just love this card. I got the idea off of SCS, but I don't remember exactly where. I've made several variations of the card, all with Lovely Lilace & DSP, but this version is the one I like best.

Here's the supplies:

Stamps: Blooming Beautiful

Paper: Lovely Lilac, Lovely Lilac DSP, Whisper White, Kiwi Kiss & Lavendar Lace

Ink: Lovely Lilac & Black Staz-On

Misc: Prismas, blending stumps, baby oil, ribbon, scallop punch, corner punch, pretties kit, lovely lilac reinker*

*I dyed the flower from the pretties kit with Lovely Lilac reinker. In a very small container (I used a small square bowl from The Container Store) mix approximately 1 tablespoon of water and approximately 16 drops of reinker. Let the flowers soak for a few minutes until desired shade. Place on paper & let dry. I moved mine around every few minutes until the excess water was removed.

Winnie & I really had a good time stamping this afternoon. We only got about 12 cards made, 4 each of three different kinds. But we also made some really cute Easter containers that I will show you later in the week.

Well, until tomorrow.........Happy Stamping

Christmas In April

Happy Saturday everyone! Hope everyone is having a beautiful day! Winnie & I certainly are. We're having guests for dinner & Winnie's friend is staying for a sleep over. Should be fun having 2 Shih Tzus in the bed for the first time, plus my 22.5 lb cat Geordi! Good thing we have a king size bed! Not to mention the fact that I don't cook! But, I'm going to try to pull it off tonight! Pray that no one gets food poisoning! LOL
My card today is one that I did many years ago when I first started stamping. The stamp set from Stampin' Up! has been retired for years, but this is still one of my favorite Christmas cards. I think I'll even enter it into the Corrosive Challenge Blog Challenge for this week, which is to use an animal on a Christmas card.
I can't remember all of the supplies but here's the "gist" of what I used:
Stamps: Stampin' Up! Teddy Bear & Accessories
Paper: Real Red, Whisper White & something similar to Always Artichoke
Ink: Something similar to Garden Green
Misc: Pop dots to pop the hat & candy cane, chalks crimper (used on the green behind the image).
Hope to get some things stamped & pics taken this weekend so that I can post some things next week.
Happy Stamping

Gift of Spring Thank You Card

I'm stuck on purple/lavendar for some reason right now. I made several different cards all with shades of purple. But, it just seems like such a wonderful spring color. Speaking of spring, the bulbs (daffodils, tulips etc) are all out in full color here in Northern Virginia. And they are lovely. My husband says the cherry blossoms are in full bloom now and are also a beautiful sight. (His office overlooks the tidal basin in DC) I was hoping to take Winnie down to see them and take some pics, but it rained here most of the day. Maybe early next week. This weekend is the Cherry Blossom Fesitval, and I don't want to go anywhere near the place with all the people. That's the nice thing about living here, you can go when there aren't as many visitors! And, my hostas are starting to peek through the ground. So far, only 5 are showing, but I'm hoping within the week, I'll see the rest. I think there's 10-12 of them. I just can't remember.

Anyway, here's the supplies for the card:

Stamps: Gift of Spring
Paper: Lovely Lilac, Lovely Lilac DSP, Almost Amethyst
Ink: Almost Amethyst
Misc: Corner punch, brads, ribbon, prisma colored pencils, baby oil, stumps

Winifred had her spa day today (ie went to the groomer). She has to go every two weeks in order for me to keep her hair long. She goes to Olde Towne School for Dogs in Olde Towne Alexandria. I was fortunate to get her in because they have a waiting list. We make her appointments for a year at the time. She has so much fun there. She gets to see all of her friends. She also went to puppy kindergarden there & then obedience school. Except one day she got sent home from school because I had been unable to work with her on her homework!

Anyway, happy Friday, and..............

Birdie Birthday

Here's some pics of Winnie at the Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs WV in early March. It was the perfect weekend to go, sunny, slight breeze, & 60 every day we were there! Winnie had so much fun. She wanted to be outside walking around the grounds all 4 days! If we weren't walking/hiking, she wanted to sit on the porch of the cottage.

Now for the stamping part of this blog--stamping!
This is the card I used for my male clients for March/April birthdays. I know that this one is a "friendship" card. All the rest said Happy Birthday on the front. I acutally used this one for a very good friend who has been diagnosed with cancer & is undergoing radiation therapy. I try to send her a card every week or so to help keep her spirits up. She's really doing great.
These cards were a lot of fun to make. I colored the little bird with prismas, baby oil & stumps. I really love that technique!

Supplies:

Masculine Birthday Card

I cased this card from someone on SCS. If anyone knows who it is, PLEASE email me so that I can give them credit. It was so much fun to do. I thnk I made about 24 of them total!
The following was used to make the card:
Paper: Really Rust, More Mustard, Close to Cocoa, & DSP.
Ink: Close to cocoa
Accessories: Brads*, Nesties, More Mustard Ribbon, chalks
*The brads are "colored" with clear embossing power & craft ink. I "stamped" the top of the white brad w/always artichoke craft ink, dipped it in clear emobssing powder, heated w/a heat gun, and repeated the process. Viola! An Always Artichoke brad. How neat is that?
Winnie & I hope you all have a wonderful evening.
Happy Stamping
