Pretty Asian Birthday & today is Winnie's 3rd birthday

I just love these colors together! Don't you? I haven't used the In Colors from SU very much this year, they haven't been my favorite like last year, however, I do like Melon Mambo & Bermuda Bay together. And they just seem to scream Asian to me for some reason. Here's the deets:

Paper: Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay & Whisper White
Ink: SU Markers Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo, Soft Suede & Bermuda Bay
Stamps: Asian Artistry
Misc: 1 1/4" & 1 3/8" circle punch, scallop circle punch, pearls

They are calling for more snow for us tonight, tomorrow and tomorrow night. However, I have made up my mind that it will not snow at my house, so even if it does, I'm going to pretend that it didn't snow. That's it. No more snow for Patty for the rest of the season. LOL

Also, today is Winnie's birthday. She is 3 today. However, she didn't get a party or a cake since it was the middle of the week. :-)

Hope everyone is having a great week.

Hello again. I almost feel like I need to introduce mayself as I have been away for so long! So, sometimes life just gets in the way! LOL

Hopefully everyone is doing well and loving life!

It rained instead of snowed today. YEAH!!!! I think I would have gone into hibernation if it had snowed again. We still have over a foot of snow in our front yard!!!!! It's not going away til July 4th, I'm positive of that! LOL

Paper: More Mustard, Chocolate Chip, Creamy Caramel
Ink" Chocolate Chip, More Mustard
Misc: gold cord, brass brads, distressing tool

I'm really enjoying these easle cards, and they seem to go so well with the Asian motifs. I like both of these color ways also. Ink: Dusty Durango (used w/blender pen to color kimono), Chocolate Chip & Sage Shadow

Ink Basic Grey, Certainly Celery, Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo (used with blender pen to color in kimono)
Misc: 1 1/4" & 1 3/8" circle punches, scallop corner & border punches)
They are calling for more snow on Mon & Tues!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe it, although they are saying it won't be measured in feet this time, just inches. However, we have enough snow to last til at least Easter if not the 4th of July! LOL
Have a great weekend!

Celebrate--whatever

It's still snowing. I know everyone is tired of hearing me say that, but imagine what it's like here. Today we are having a blizzard, and as soon as you shovel the snow, it's blown back to where it was! Incredible. They even closed my office today, and I never remember that happening in the past 10+ years! We are always open!

My card today was a color challenge from a few weeks ago over on SCS. I'm just now getting it loaded! You were suppose to use bashful blue, soft suede and ruby red. Here's the deets:

Stamps: Send a celebration
Ink: bashful blue, soft suede
Paper: bashful blue, soft suede, ruby red
Misc: Nesties Labels 4, water color crayons, aqua painter, soft suede polka dot grossgrain ribbon, pop dots

Hope everyone is safe & warm.

Kissing Technique

Here's another technique that I tried from the mini VSN. I really don't like this card, as I didn't really have a good stamp to try the kissing technique on. I used the Big Blossom stamp from SU for my base. I stamped it in Pretty in Pink, then "kissed" the stamped image with Rose Red Classic Ink and the I Heart Heart stamp set. I then cut out the big blossom and placed it on top of whisper white that I had run through the Big Shot using a Sizzix embossing plate. I put all that on top of a real red piece that I punched with the zig zag hearts corner & border punches. I put a pretty in pink epoxy brad in the middle of the flower. I also punched out a heart using the SU heart punch and another stamp from the I Heart Hearts set in Rose Red ink.
There is a tutorial over on SCS that you can view HERE
It's snowing again. There's already another inch on the ground, and it just started a couple of hours ago. Another 8-12" is what is predicted. I've already decided I'm working from home tomorrow. I'll just dial in and take care of whatever comes up. What a winter we've had!!!
Stay warm.

Spotlight Technique

This is called the spotlight technique. I had never tried it, but another one of the challenges from the mini VSN was to use it, so this is what I created. I really like it, so I made 5 more cards just like it except that they were birthday cards. Here's the deets:

Stamps: SU Natural Beauty, Technique Tuesday sentiment
Paper: Rose Red, Barely Banana, Certainly Celery, Garden Green, Basic Black, Whisper White
Ink: Basic Black
Misc: Blending Pen used with Regal Rose & Certainly Celery reinkers; MS butterfly punches, 1 1/4 & 1 3/8" circle punches, pop dots

This is my second post today. The first one is for blog candy over on Diane's musings blog, so make sure to scroll down for the link.

They are calling for 10-20 MORE INCHES OF SNOW TOMORROW!!!!! We're not going to see our lawn til the 4th of July!!!! LOL

SCDU14 Sketch Challenge

This is the card I came up with for the SCDU14 challenge over on Diane's blog. Click HERE to see the challenge. I've had this stamp set for years and had never used it before. I love the little kitty.
Stamps: Fabric of Friendship
Paper: Pale Plum and Bravo Burgandy
Ink: Basic Grey
Misc: buttons, scallop corner punch, prismas, blending stumps and baby oil
We have over 2 feet of snow here. It snowed for 31 hours straight. It will be the 4th of July before all this snow is gone! AND, they're calling for more snow on Tuesday! I thought I lived in the DC area, not Alaksa! LOL

Chalkborad Technique

They are measuring our expected snow fall in FEET, not inches! YIKES!!! We're suppose to get 2 feet of snow before it stops tomorrow night! This is the 2nd major snowfall of the year! They are saying it could be the biggest in the DC area ever! (Biggest recorded was 28") WOW. It started snowing at 10:15 this morning. And they are saying we could have near blizzard conditions later on tonight & early tomorrow with winds of 25 mph and gusts to 35 mph! So, I'm staying in and making cards and hopefully getting some scrapbooking done! Yeah!
My card tonight was another one for the mini VSN last weekend. The blackboard technique is one of my favorites. You stamp your image in white on a dark background, and then pounce patels on the image with a dauber. Here's the deets
Stamps: Wings of Friendship
Paper: Almost Amethyst, Elegant Eggplant
Ink: White
Misc: Stampin' Pastels, 1 1/4 & 1 3/8" punches, scallop corner & border punches
Have a great weekend, and stay warm & safe!
Happy Stamping.
