Cricut cards

Here are 2 of the cards I made for the mini VSN that we had last night over on Split Coast Stampers. The top card is called "Red Mittens". The relay runners who carried the torch to the opening ceremonies all wear red mittens with white fluff around the cuff, so that is where I got the idea for the card. The challenge was to use red & white, and something fluffy on the card. So I used glittery yarn around the card & liquid applique on the mittens. I also glittered the button & put it in the middle of the yarn.
The 2nd card was for the opening ceremonies. We were suppose to choose the colors of a flag from a participating country. Of course I chose Old Glory, and thought that the torch that I found on the Cricut cartridge entitled "Stand & Salute" was the perfect embellishment for my card.
My DH may be home tomorrow! I can hardly wait. It seems he's been gone for so long, although it's only been 2 1/2 weeks. We haven't gotten to speak to each other very often (only a couple of times) so that makes a big difference I think.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend, We got 6" of snow yesterday. YIKES!

Pet Sympathy Card

I needed a pet sympathy card and this is what I came up with. I think the sentiment is from Verve stamps, but I'm not sure.

Paper: Bella Bleu DSP, Very Vanilla, Not Quite Navy, Bordering Blue
Ink: Not Quite Navy
Misc: CB Embossing Folder, SU Bigz Butterfly die, Sizzix Big Shot

DH is still in Haiti. No word on when he is coming home now. He was suppose to come home this Friday, but something happened. So..................

But remember, VSN mini is this Saturday night from 6-11pm EST. The theme is the Opening Ceremonies for the Winter Olympics. It will be great fun, so I hope you can join us!!!

Guess it's OK after all

After I made this card I decided that I really really didn't like it at all. It was made for a Midnight Madness Challenge a few weeks ago. But now that the card has been sitting here for a while, I am starting to like it more and more.

Stamps: Touch of Nature
Paper: Rainbow Sherbet DSP, Gren Galore, Tempting Turquoise, Apricot Appeal
Ink: Green Galore & Tempting Turquoise markers
Misc: flower punches, white grossgrain ribbon, turquoise polka dotted grossgrain ribbon

Circle Circus; SCDU14

This is a card I made for last weeks challenge over on Diane's (djuseless) blog. I'm a week behind, but that's ok, life happens! I like the bright colors of this card. I don't do a lot with oranges & yellows, but this just seemed to come together for me.

Stamps: Circle Circus
Ink: Soft Suede, Dusty Durango, Crushed Curry
Paper: Razzleberry Lemonade DSP, Whisper White, Dusty Durango, Crushed Curry
Misc: brads

I'm so glad it's Friday! Yeah! It is suppose to be nice here tomorrow, and then rain (1-1 1/2" of rain!) on Sunday. So, I'll run all my errands tomorrow and stamp the day away on Sunday.

Have a great weekend!

Butterfly Thank you

Hello everyone! I hope your week is going well. I'm so happy that tomorrow is Friday. The weather forcasters are calling for a "wintery mix" here tonight & tomorrow morning. That will not be good for the morning commute! Plus, it seems everytime Winifred has to go to the groomer it rains! What a waste!

I guess I like this card OK, but it's not my favorite. I have a bunch of Candy Lane DSP, (like 5 packs because I liked it so much), but now I'm trying to use some of it up. I may have to use it for scrapbooking too, which would be ok. Here's the deets on the card:

Stamps: Flight of the butterfly
Ink: Real red
Paper: Candy Lane DSP, Real Red, Very Vanilla
Misc: Riding Hood Red 1 1/4" stripped ribbon, MS butterfly border punch, MS butterfly punch

I popped up the single butterfly w/pop dots to give the card a little more dimension.

Have a great evening!

No Stamping Card, but I like it anyway!

There really isn't any stamping on this card, but I really do like it a lot. I may make a few more of these. I used my new Cricut Expression to cut the Happy Anniversary, and my Big Shot to cut the butterflies. Can you tell I'm really into butterflies right now??? I also used a Cuttlebug embossing folder to emboss the 2 larger butterflies.

Stamps: NONE!
Paper: Bella Bleu DSP, Not Quite Navy, Bordering Blue, Very Vanilla
Ink: NONE
Misc: Cricut Expression, Big Shot, SU Butterfly Die, MS Butterfly punch, CB embossing folder

I got an email from my DH today that he felt the aftershock in Haiti, but that he & his entire team are OK. They have been very busy, and he is actually sleeping on the floor in the US Embassy. He also said that the civil unrest that is being reported on the news is greatly exaggerated! There is still an over whelming task ahead, but he feels they are making a diference.

I hope everyone's week is going well.

Happy Stamping!

Fresh Butterflies

I couldn't wait to try this stamp set out, then once I got it, I could figure out how to use it. UGH! But this is what I finally came up with. I liked it enough to make 2 of them. I may try again with other colors this afternoon & see how I can change it up a little bit.

Here's the deets:

Stamps: Fresh Cuts
Paper: Night of Navy & Brocade Blue
Ink: Night of Navy & Brocade Blue
Misc: SU & CB embossing folders, SU Butterfly die

This is your last chance to leave a message before I draw for the portable light box kit. It's brand new still in the original box, so someone is going to be very lucky today!

Good Luck!

Pretty Pink Thank You

First off, thank you all for your prayers for my DH. He is out of contact until they can get communications set up which will be a few days. I have another request: I've gotten several messages from other family members whose loved ones are also in/in route to Haiti. Please pray for them and again for the Haitian people. Thank you.
Now, on to more pleasant things. I just love Pretty in Pink. I used it for my 25th Wedding Anniversary announcements/invitations a few years ago. And I just love this card. I think I will make a few more of them over the weekend. This card just simply makes me happy. Period. The End. :-)
Stamps: Curley Label, unknown acrylic
Ink: Certainley Celery
Paper: Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink, Whisper White
Misc: Curley lable punch, pink pirouette ribbon, pearls, Sizzix big shot, scallop envelope SU die
I cute the envelope in Whisper White using the SU scallop envie die, and then again in Pretty in pink. I trimmed the pretty in pink down to make a liner for the envie and then put the curley label punch out on top. This really was a fun card to make!
I have a long (3 day) weekend, and hope to spend the entire time in my stamping room! I can't wait to share what I create with you, so please stop by soon!
Happy Stamping!

Rainbow Sherbet

I had not used my Rainbow Sherbet DSP since I got it many months ago. But I'm in love with it now!!! I've already posted one card, plus this one and one more to post later in the week.
Before I get to the details, I have a favor to ask. Please pray for all the residents of Haiti, and my husband who is on his way with FEMA to help out. I was not expecting him to have to go, so it caught us a little off guard. Thank you in advance for lifting him up in prayer. I don't have any idea how long he will be gone, where he will be staying or anything. I'm just a little worried since I heard there are bands of people walking around with machete's to protect themselves. It scares me a little.
Here's the deets on my card:
Stamps: Touch of Nature, Sincere Salutations
Paper: Rainbow Sherbet, Apricot Appeal, Tempting Turquoise, Green Galore, Whisper White
Ink: Green Galore & Tempting Turquoise markers; So Safron
Misc: corner punch
Thanks for looking tonight. Sorry I'm not upbeat as usual.

Wild Rose Bella

I came up with this for the sketch challenge over on SCS for this week. I'm having a creativity block. Guess I like this ok.

Stay posted this week because I'm going to post some blog candy one day this week. :-)

Stamps: Wild Rose, Flight of the Butterfly
Paper: Bella Rose DSP, Pink Pirouette, Real Red, Kiwi Kiss
Ink: Riding Hood Red, Kiwi Kiss, Pretty in Pink
Misc: SU butterfly punch, riding hood red 1 1/4" stirpped ribbon

Kitty seems to be doing better today. The absess is looking better & doesn't seem to be draining as much today. Poor thing.

I hope everyone has a happy & productive & creative week. Stay warm.

Butterfly Thinking of You

This was a fun little quick card I made & have already mailed out to a friend.

Stamps: Touch of Nature
Ink: Green Galore
Paper: Rainbow Sherbet DSP, Green Galore, Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise
Misc: MS butterfly border punch

Well, I didn't get as much done today as I had hoped, so we'll see what happens tomorrow. My kitty, Geordi had to go to the doctor. He had an absessed anal gland. He's on antibiotics and ointment. Have you ever tried to give a cat medicine??? It's nearly impossible! We won't even discuss trying to put ointment on the kitty's "boom boom". On top of everything else, the vet wants him to loose some weight. He's "only" 22 lbs! Poor kitty.

Guess that's all the news from our house. More tomorrow.

MMSC35, Butterfly Express

I made this card for the Midnight Madness challenge for this week. It was my 2nd attempt at the challenge. (Remember, I said I was having "creativity problems" this week)

Stamps: HM Butterfly Express
Paper: Whisper White, Almost Amethyst, Tea Party DSP, Certainly Celery
Ink: Basic Grey
Misc: Top Note Die, Sizzix Big Shot, SU 3 flower punch, brad, yarn

I hope everyone had a wonderful week. I'm looking forward to a very creative weekend of crafting. I not only want to make some cards, I also would like to do a few scrapbook pages & finish a couple quilt blocks. We'll see how much I get done.

BTW, I'll be offering some blog candy soon, so stay tuned!

Touch of Nature, CC252

This is another color challenge card that I did earlier this week. I'm not pleased with the colors for the challenge this week, which are certainly celery, Bermuda Bay & Handsome Hunter. To me, the Bermuda Bay is out of place, but this is what I finally came up with.

Stamps: Touch of Nature
Ink: Certainly Celery, Bermuda Bay
Paper: Certainly Celery DSP, Handsome Hunter, Bermuda Bay & Whisper White
Misc: Bermuda Bay polka dot grossgrain ribbon

Sorry I didn't post for the past couple of nights. I was really not very creative and had trouble coming up with some cards. But I have cards to post tomorrow night too, so stay tuned.

Happy Stamping!

Sympathy

I needed some sympathy cards to have on hand. This is what I came up with. What do you think?
The base of the card is going grey, stamped with going grey to create some texture. The image is stamped in basic black on whisper white, layered on top of basic black cute out with my nesties ovals. The sentiment is from "hope & comfort" from SU. The butterflies are a MS punch with silver 1/2 back pearls in the middle.
Today went by fairly quickly at work. I got a lot done, and I feel better than I have in a few days. So all in all, today was a great day!
I'm one of the coordinators for the next VSN over on SCS. (I can't remember if I've mentioned this before or not.) Anyway, we're working away at getting ready for the mini at the end of Jan, and then the main event in Feb. The theme is the Olympics, and it should be a blast. Please think about playing along with us. If you are having trouble finding the link, leave me a comment with your email &/or phone number & I'll walk you through it.

MMSC34, Happy Birthday

The "Bug Man" came over to visit Winnie today. He's her Japanese Chin boyfriend. They just love each other, and she knows it when I say "Mr. Bug" or "Bug Man". She starts looking around for him. It's too cute!

This is my take on the MMSC34 sketch challenge. I had a lot of fun making this card. Here's the deets:

Stamps: Merci'

Paper: Whisper White, Brocade Blue, Chocolate Chip, Bella Birds DSP

Ink: Basic Grey

Misc: flower brads, nesties, Paper Shapers corner punch, 1 1/4", 1 3/8" & scallop circle punches from SU

The butterflies in the corner are "left overs" from a new MS butterfly border punch that I bought right after Christmas.

Hope everyone had a wonderful New Year's weekend. Happy new week.

Another color challenge card

This color challenge was to use Dusty Durango, Barely Banana & grey on a card. I used basic grey to stamp the image and colored it in w/barely banana & dusty durango using reinkers and a blending pen. The stamp set is called "Merci". I used nesties to cut the ovals. The ribbon is also barely banana. You can barely make it out, but I used barely banana and stamped the background of the card.

DH is on his was to Anchorage Alaska today. Justin & Allanna left around 9 this morning, so I am by myself this weekend. It's just Winnie, Geordi & me. I think I'll head up to my scrap/stamp room & make some cards so that I'll have something to post next week.

Happy Stamping!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Happy New Year everyone! I wish everyone a very propsperous, safe and wonderful 2010.
As per my normal tradition, I fell asleep before midnight and DH had to wake me up. But Allanna feel asleep also, so I don't feel so bad. Damon woke us both up right before 12 and and gave us a glass of champagne. We drank our champagne and then went to bed. Boy, am I boring. LOL
My card today is for the SC over on SCS. It was a lot of fun to create.
Stamps: Flowersoft Wheelbarrow
Ink: Basic Grey
Paper: Pretty in Pink, Basic black, basic grey, grey, whisper white
Misc: prismas, blending stumps, baby oil
For those of you with cricuts, JoAnn's has their cartridges on sale for $39.99 through Sunday.
