First Christmas cards for 2014

I joined the Christmas Card Challenge over on Speedy TV so that I could get a jump on my Christmas cards again this year.  There will be a big prize at the end of the year for one lucky winner who completes their goal for 2014.  For my January cards I used the stamp set "Poinsettia Blooms" by Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co  I used non-traditional colors for my cards.  I love pink poinsettias and so that's where I got my inspiration.  I colored the images with my Copic markers.  I used the same layout as my card from yesterday.

Deer in the Forest

The name of this stamp set is "Bow Hunting" by Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co.  However, I decided I wanted to make a CAS Christmas card, and this is what I came up with.  I love the tree in this set, and thought it looked so pretty with the white tail deer.  When we lived in Texas we had a lot of deer, and one morning I counted 13 deer in my front yard.  We kept a salt lick and cracked corn for them, and always found it magical to watch them! 

I stipple the "snow" with 2 light colors of blue ink and colored the deer with my Spectrum Noir Pens.

Speedy Fox & Friends Blog Challenge~~Red Christmas

Our challenge this week is "Red Christmas".  Of course I immediately thought of the cardinal on top of the present in the "Presents" stamp set by Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co.  Even though you really can't tell it, there's a scalloped oval behind the image.  I embossed the background with a holly berry embossing folder.  This was a fun challenge!  I hope you'll play along with us this week!

Speedy Fox & Friends Blog Challenge~~White Christmas

This weeks challenge is "White Christmas".  I actually used silver embossing powder and Encore Silver Metallic ink, but the picture looks more black than silver.  The image and sentiment is from the stamp set "You Are An Angel" by Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co.  I cut out the image of the Angel using a rectangular scallop nestability, and heat embossed it with silver embossing powder.  The I popped up the Angel image on a music embossed piece of CS.  I wish the photo was better because it really is beautiful IRL.

12 Days of Christmas~~Banner

 

 

 

Today's 12 Days of Christmas project for Mark's Finest Papers blog is to make a banner.  I thought of a banner on a card, so this is what I came up with.  You could also do the same thing with Santa  and Ho Ho Ho.  I used the stamp sets "Holly Jolly Greetings" and "Tailgate Party" by Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co.  I used bakers twine to hang my pennants on.

My little snowman is as happy as can be with his friend the blue bird joining him on this center step Christmas card.  Our challenge this week for Speedy Fox & Friends is to make a snow scene.  I used Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co stamp set called Snow Gifts.  It was a free set that we got for a swap we had last year.  He's one of my favorite snowman stamps!

Speedy Fox & Friends Challenge~~Your Favorite Technique

 

This week's Speedy Fox & Friends blog challenge is to use your favorite technique.  Well, I had a tie, so I used them both:  center step cards and coloring.  The stamp set is the new set just released by Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co called "Presents".  The designer paper is some I got at Tuesday Morning last weekend for $1.99 for 25 sheets.  It's even 2 sided.  I needed more paper like I need another hole in my head, but I couldn't resist for the price!  LOL

I decided to decorate the inside of my card as well as the front.  For the front I colored my present with Spectrum Noir pens and used some ribbon brads to run some celery green ribbon through across the top of the card.  I used my nestabilities to cut of the image.  The inside has some of the same DP and red CS that I punch with a MS border punch.  I then added the sentiment and a Christmas tree brad, and voila', done.

Another Christmas Cardinal Card

Today's challenge for Speedy Fox and Friends is to make a movement card.  I made a little wobble for my snowman out of florist wire.  You can't tell he moves (I couldn't get a good photo of it, sorry) but in real life he looks like he's shivering.  (I have attached a video I made showing how to make the "wobble coil" out of florist wire.  Please see video below)  That's why it says Brrr underneath him.  LOL  This cute little snowman is from the stamp set "Holly Jolly Greetings" by Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co.  The sentiment is from the stamp set "Snow Gifts".
